We could recover from openElement the forum and the web site but could not get the domain name.
OpenElement try to connect to the domain on opening and right after opening a project. It means that you will work in stand-alone mode. The first error can be bypassed by using the New or the Open button on the top left corner. Next you will get a pop-up with the following message: Message : The remote name could not be resolved: 'webserv.openelement.com' Click the Do not send button and wou will be able to work as usual. Usually you may transfer the name of a domain to another provider.
I think you buddies know that. It may also be to recover for about 30 days after closing the name. Depends on the original provider, and denic. Did you try it? Otherweise we woud never get rid of the current situation. Unless you'd release a next version for download. That invonvenience is not life important, but just pretty confusing / scaring for newbees. OT:
My router has been killed from some remote bastard, so I (temporarily) connect to the internet via smartphone tethering. Works just fine and even 10 x faster than wire. I could like it, but its a matter of price, which I don't like. Edited by digizar - Jan 04 2022 at 6:32pm |

That really causes alot of headaches for you buddies. Sorry to hear that.
Whatever the reason might be. It seems to be nearly impossible to change all the existing references on the net. Could it be managed, to keep any paid space on the origin provider just for idle. So he would have to release that name? Who ist that provider, or the registrator anyway? If you want to tell.

The problem is that you have to modify the dns of the openelement.com and openelement.fr websites, which are hosted by Gandi. We have no control over it, the current "owners" refuse to modify the dns or sell us the domain names. We always try to negotiate with them, but unfortunately communication is very difficult.

I think it would be impossible to change all the public references, if you change the name. But at least do you have control obout the content your space @ gandi? Do mark it there as *moved to xxxx* for the remaining period, and let them be happy with that name, until they are fed up. Makes ist simpler. I don't see another reasonable solution. How much do they request? If that sounds at least reasonable, just pay and leave. But as I know that matter, the price might be hefty. It's a typical common trap, not mentioned in the contract. They can not refuse a simple text 'relay' entry on 'your' domain space. Cancel the agreement, and that's it. I think, you buddies know that. But anyway I mention it. Good to know that this is an 'excellent' provider. My provider is one.com. No trouble since 15 years.

As indicated, the problem remains the same, we do not have control over the 2 domain names. We have to deal with, ask, beg, negotiate, etc. Tiring, exhausting but we never let go.

I don't use my instance of OpenElement to post my website to the server. Domain name unreachable shouldn't affect me; so why am I getting this 105 error?
